Selling a Home in The Reserve at Gearhart, Oregon

Gearhart Oregon real estate Andrea Mace July 9, 2026

Gearhart has several distinct residential areas, and The Reserve offers its own version of the Gearhart lifestyle—spacious homes, a peaceful residential setting, and easy access to the beach, golf and everything that makes this small North Oregon Coast community so appealing.

I had the opportunity to list and sell 5399 Drummond Drive in The Reserve last year, giving me firsthand experience with both the neighborhood and the buyers drawn to this particular part of Gearhart.

That experience reinforced something I've learned repeatedly in coastal real estate: buyers aren't simply comparing bedrooms, bathrooms and square footage. They're trying to understand how a property—and the neighborhood around it—fits the way they want to live.

What Makes The Reserve at Gearhart Different?

The Reserve feels distinctly residential. Homes have a sense of space and privacy while still being connected to the larger Gearhart community and the coastal lifestyle buyers are seeking.

For buyers considering The Reserve, the appeal can be a combination of the home itself, the neighborhood setting, outdoor living, proximity to the beach and easy access to Gearhart Golf Links and town.

That combination is important when selling here because a home in The Reserve shouldn't be marketed as simply another property in ZIP code 97138.

The neighborhood is part of the story.

What I Learned Selling 5399 Drummond Drive

Having actually represented a seller in The Reserve gives me a perspective that market statistics alone can't provide.

When I listed 5399 Drummond Drive, I had the opportunity to see firsthand how buyers responded to the home, the neighborhood and the overall Gearhart setting. That kind of feedback is valuable because it helps identify what buyers notice, what questions they ask and what ultimately helps distinguish a property from its competition.

For a distinctive home, marketing needs to communicate more than a list of features. Buyers need to understand the scale of the property, how the indoor and outdoor spaces relate to one another, the feeling of arriving home, and what living in this particular part of Gearhart might actually be like.

That's where thoughtful photography, aerial imagery, strong property storytelling and careful positioning can make a meaningful difference.

The Larger Gearhart Lifestyle

Living in The Reserve also means being part of Gearhart, and that's an important part of the property's appeal.

Gearhart Golf Links, the beach, walking and biking, open spaces and the town's quieter residential character all contribute to a lifestyle that feels different from nearby coastal communities.

That's something I think is particularly important when marketing Gearhart real estate. Buyers may be considering homes in Cannon Beach, Seaside, Manzanita and other parts of the North Oregon Coast at the same time.

The job isn't simply to convince them that a particular house is beautiful. It's to help them understand why they might choose this house, in this neighborhood, in Gearhart.
